Here you go Max-heads. The ultimate in sound, performance and appearance for your Gen 2 Vmax. This slip on system allows for a nice simple installation without ever having to remove your stock front and rear head pipes. You DO NOT have to remove the swingarm as with a full system. We have completely ceramic coated the system inside and out for the best in corrosion resistance and zero discoloration. NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR THE SATIN BLACK FINISH. OTHER MANUFACTURERS CHARGE YOU EXTRA FOR THIS……WHY? The COMPLETE system is manufactured in house at PlanetVmax.com™ including the megaphone muffler.
The megaphone has a nice performance free flowing 2.5 ” baffle core wrapped in stainless steel silencer material which we guarantee as long as you own the bike. It will never need re-packing. A very nice core the full length of the muffler that you can point to if “enforcement” has any question to the pipes being baffled.
With the purchase of this system you also have the option to purchase our Jekyll and Hyde Exhaust™ which has a twin megaphone muffler system. This set up has one megaphone with a 2″ street baffle core with a 1.5″ exit that is very stealth in sound level. When you get that twitch in your right wrist to act up, or show your buddie your taillight, the second megaphone has a full race 2.5″ baffle core with a butterfly assembly that is controlled by your stock exup controller and cables which will open up relative to engine demand. Your buddie better have a belt on because when that valve opens, he will hear a sonic boom ……….right before you blow his pants off!
The exhaust note is that DEEP, DEEP throaty sound which we all loved on the Gen 1 four into 1 systems. The difference this go-round is, we used to compare the sound to that of a small block Chevy………. this is a BIG BLOCK! The sound of a 1200 cc engine compared to this new 1700cc engine is very obvious.
With proper fuel management and air intake mods there is not a Gen 2 Vmax on the Planet that will leave on you from a light ……let alone go around you. We own and built the fastest Gen 2 Vmax on earth and this exhaust system is produced by the same people. We use our dyno to develop the highest level of performance, throttle response and drivability. We do not make pull after pull with oxygenated fuels, wide open un-filtered intakes and “adjusted dyno parameters” to give the public unrealistic horsepower values which are well, I guess the proper terminology would be “Crock”. Our major customer base for the Gen 2 Vmax is street bikes with the occasional “trip to the strip”. This system covers all the bases. Sound, performance, options and ………..availability.
The ThunderMax™ production pipes as well as most of the exhaust systems that UFO Performance Products™ produces, are in a constant state of performance evolution. We rigorously test all of our products using our in house dyno and countless hours of race track testing to provide our customers with proven results. Performance gains, appearance, and the effort required to install the product are always key factors that we evaluate. Each time we make production runs for the consumer market we evaluate the current product and incorporate any changes to the end-product that we find note-worthy. UFO Performance Products™ is dedicated to providing you with the best products on the planet!

If you already own the UFO ThunderMax™ exhaust system you can upgrade to the Jekyll and Hyde Exhaust™ for $650.00

Jon, thought I’d pass on a funny story.
I dropped my 2010 off at the local Yamaha dealer on Tuesday to get the oil pump recall taken care of. They called me late Wednesday afternoon to tell me it was done.
I went in this afternoon to pick it up, and while I was there I went to shoot the breeze with the head tech, I’ve known him for 16 or so years. The last time I talked to him was when I went in to get the parts ordered for the recall, he had a Gen2 he was finishing up and two more waiting. We walk outside and he looks at my bike, here’s how our conversation went:
“What did that guy do to this thing?”.
Who?
“The guy who worked on it”. He had this strange look on his face.
Exhaust and a custom tune.
“This is the first Gen2 I’ve ridden that has vBoost”.
HUH?
“It runs normally up to about 4,000 RPM, then it goes CRAZY! I’ve never ridden a Gen2 that runs like this! Are you sure that’s all he did”.
I watched while they did it, it took them maybe half an hour start to finish.
“man, that thing’s insane, but the exhaust is a little…….”
Obnoxious?
“yeah”
Normally I’d agree, but it sounds awesome.
Just wanted to thank you for your sound advice on my Vmax. I loved the
bike stock, and after talking to you I purchased the thundermax
exhaust and max tuner. F___ing Amazing, love the sound and the look on
peoples faces when they try and figure out what I’m riding. I aslo
asked you about a 1 or 2 inch drop you said 2. Brother you were all
over it. I put the 2 inch link in and 240 tire on it this week and fell
in love all over again. Bike sounds and looks great. For anyone that
might read this. If you are putting any other products on you vmax
beside UFO you might want to talk to John and reconsider. Thanks again
Terence
Hey Jon,
I wanted to thank you for your committment to quality, performance and value.
I had my local Yamaha Dealer install the Thunder Max exhaust, Yamaha Competition Control Module, remove the restrictor plate in the air box, install a K&N filter and dyno/map my 2010 V Max and WOW!! I unleashed the beast. I thought I would lose a lot of hp and torque at the bottom end but that’s not the case. Around 2200 rpm it dropped 2 hp and 2 ft/lbs (nominal), after that the whole powerband increased dramatically. Overall I had a 15% increase in rear wheel hp, over 7% increase in rear wheel torque and dropped over 4% in total bike weight.
Oh, and I smile a lot more. Next up is the 240 wheel and a wheelie control module if anyone ever developes one.
Ride Safe, Bret
Hi Jon
I finally got the ThunderMax and Jekyll and Hyde systems last week, (while I was still away).
I just got back for a few days, have fitted them and very impressed. Very good quality and the ThunderMax is most definitely a deep glorious/angry note and bloody loud.
Thankfully I ordered the Jekyll and Hyde also, as it is a bit easier on the ears around town. At low RPM it is a nice VMAX note in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and when into 4th the change is extraordinary. It changes to a very deep quality exhaust note.
P.S. The quality of the headers matching both exhausts exactly, makes it a 10 to 15 minute job to change over to either exhaust. Perfect slide on fit.
Just what I required. Thanks , Vic
During my quest I would like to share my findings. After the big air and thunder max exhaust, I installed a narrow band o2 sensor to help determine my af ratios. Now I know a narrow band does not have the resolution of a wide band but I am on a budget so I went with a narrow and later used a friends wide band for comparison. With the big air and 4 into 1 exhaust the stock ecu ran lean during idle 15.5 and during acceleration around 14.9 according to a wide band…. On my narrow band the gauge flashed the lights between 7 and 10 oclock which indicates lean….. During wot the narrow band lights flashed between 9 and 12 o’clock which is the stoichemetric range of 14.7 af which in my opinion was too lean and unsafe for wot…. Next i purchased a yamaha race ecu and immediately noticed improved af ratios … Idle maintained stoichemetric of 14.7 and the narrow and wide band guage never showed af ratios below stoichemetric during cruise and wot. Now I could of purchased a pc5 but I do not own a laptop pc (im an apple loyalist) so the cost was beyond my reach, instead I purchased a Maxtuner at a fraction of the cost and was able to satisfy my fuel demands.
Onto the dynojet ….. Fuel was sunoco 93 with 10% ethanol, outside temp 47 deg F, 58% humidity, barometric pressure 1003.4 mb. … I set the Maxtuner to cause my narrow band to flash the lights between 1 and 4 o’clock which according to wide band was 13.7 af ….the result of a 5th gear pull was 202.1 hp and torque at 119 ft/lb …. This is my personal findings that I want to share with my fellow vmax owners. Now onto my dry shot on nitrous…………to be continued” …..
Hi Jon,
I had purchased items for my gen 1 and I especially love the 4 into 2 exhaust you sold me it looks great and is a head turner with the sound. I also purchased your stealth exhaust for my gen 2 and love it also. My plans are to make some some big hp numbers with my gen 2 and I plan on using your products ….. Thanks for your excellent customer support……Chris
